The Broken Places

Ace is the place for a good read.

The Broken Places (A Quinn Colson Novel)

Pronto

Filling in the gaps with Raylan and Elmore.

Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit

Not real light reading at the end of the day.

Hyper-V configuration

After installing an External Network switch on Hyper-V for Win 8 64bit, the virtual switch did not display any connectivity in the Network Connections tab in Control Panel.

For some reason, you need to disable, then enable the virtual switch, in order for the changes to take place.

I also ran into a weird issue getting a Cisco VPN client to work through the virtual switch – need to configure the vpn client to “Allow Local LAN access” under the Transport tab

How to disable the Windows 8 lock screen

Hit the Start key, type gpedit.msc, and press Enter. This will open the Local Group Policy Editor.

Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization

Double click “Do not display the lock screen,” and select Enabled from the dialog that pops up. Click OK.

Night Moves (Doc Ford)

An odd series but seems to capture the Florida spirit.

The Prophet

Mid-tier author in this genre. Pretty weak ending, but a decent read overall.

Weakest of the surrogates, but it is what it is.

Pretty good way to go out.

Riding the Rap

Nothing like finding an un-read Elmore on the library shelf.

Blood Trail

Perhaps my expectations are too high, but this one seemed a bit slack.

Blood Trail (A Joe Pickett Novel)

Taken

Crais is a little too cute with this one. Hope he is not getting bored.

Taken (An Elvis Cole Novel)

Bosch keeps it moving, though the ending is a bit jumbled.

Some decent twists.

Bad Blood

Would have been a good magazine article – really had to stretch to fill the covers.

Bad Blood: Freedom and Death in the White Mountains

Chasing the Dime

A hairball by Connelly is better than most, but it is still a hairball.

Chasing the Dime

Separation of Power

These books become much less tedious after you figure out which chapters to skip.

Separation of Power (Mitch Rapp Novels)

Demolition Angel

Crais has a handle on his female protagonist. Beats Sunny Randall any day.
