Crais takes off the sunglasses and gets back to writing.
As enjoyable as eating a bad meal to be polite.
James Lee brings it and brings it and …
A complex and disturbing story than seems like a cross between High Plains Drifter and Forrest Gump.
Some interesting sections and an overall bummer.
The Operators: The Wild and Terrifying Inside Story of America’s War in Afghanistan
Covers a lot of ground. Nothing out of the ordinary, but a couple good spots.
Author takes a break from Elvis and it pays off big time.
Would be great if the Lucy character would disappear, but seems like the Charlie Brown and the football syndrome.
Thoughtful and well-written. A complicated man with a checkered life, but he got to drink from the fountain.
Black Sheep: The Life of Pappy Boyington (Library of Naval Biography)
Author’s gone Hollywood and the work has gone in the, well, you know.
Touches the edges of obscurity, but manages to stay interesting. Hard to pick this series up in the middle.
Interesting how author photos can convey what might lie within. One of the last books before author goes Hollywood.
Scraping the bottom of the barrel if I have to read Crichton. Plastic characters and dull dialog. Easy to skim the “I’m so smart” research interruptions.
Very successful in conveying the mood of occupied Paris. A bit confusing in places, but an interesting read overall.
Interesting characters and a solid pace.
Nothing special but not a bore.
Penn and crew are back at it. A nice thick read.
