Painted Ladies
I didn’t know this was in the works when RBP died. A good way to go out, I guess.

Some books you just shouldn’t re-read. I had somewhat fond memories of this book, but found the second time through a slog.
Well written and engaging.
Trafalgar: The Nelson Touch (Great Battles)Naval Military History Books)
A bit heavy handed in spots, but entertaining overall.
Starts off strong, waffles a bit and ends with a shrug.
Enormous amount of detail – a difficult book that wore me down.
Death Valley: The Summer Offensive, I Corps, August 1969Military History Books)
Written for the B school crowd. Since most of the exploits were classified only a very heavily redacted view is afforded.
The Mission, The Men, and Me: Lessons from a Former Delta Force CommanderTerrorism Books)
Author seems to be holding back a bit, but pretty interesting read overall.
This author gets a lot of press, but I find his work dull and uninteresting.
Flyboys: A True Story of CourageWorld War II in Asia History Books)
A fun read about some really weird people.
Blind Descent: The Quest to Discover the Deepest Place on Earth
A bit dated. Some interesting sections.
Interesting to listen to the various albums while reading the related chapters. Pretty good read overall.
One of the better reads in the Sunny Randall series.
A different ending from a lot of the Spencer series.
A good way to go out – for Jesse and RBP.
Some interesting sections, but pretty dull overall.
Conceived In Liberty: William Oates, Joshua Chamberlain, and the American Civil War
Some interesting parts, but a bit too predictable.
First half is pretty good, but really bogs down after that.
some interesting bits but a little to close in time for historical perspective.
The Longest War: The Enduring Conflict between America and Al-Qaeda
